What to Expect

What will happen during your treatment

Your first appointment – a no-obligation Consultation

This is a time for you to tell me how you would like therapy to help. I will ask a few questions but none of these will be invasive. Then I will explain how the brain works in relation to the issue you have brought and, most importantly, how we can work together to reach your goals. We will discuss the number of sessions you might expect and the logistics. If you would like to proceed, you will take a CD away with you to get you started.

Your subsequent sessions will last around 55 minutes to 1 hour. Each time we will focus on your goals, as we identify the positive changes you are making and build on them. After a two-way conversation, you will enjoy a relaxing trance session.

Week by week, you will be moving towards how you want things to be, rather than focusing on how you don’t want them to be.

Therapy sessions focus on finding solutions

Therapy sessions focus on finding solutions – positive steps towards your preferred future, rather than analysing the past. We cannot change what has already happened, but we can change our way of thinking about it, as well as the way we think about the future. If you have experienced unpleasant events, we acknowledge they happened and help you get from where you are to where you want to be.

In this way, we will :

Recognise where you are currently

Identify where you want to be

Help you to make changes to get there.

The procedures for Smoking Cessation and Phobias are different and I will happily tell you about those if you wish.

Number of sessions

For many issues you might expect to attend a Consultation followed by about eight sessions. This will vary according to your needs and progress. We will review this regularly.

Phobias normally require a Consultation followed by three sessions.

Smoking Cessation is a single two-hour appointment.
